ALAN RINEHART, guitar

Alan Rinehart is known in the guitar world as a performer, teacher, and music editor. He completed his guitar studies in Canada and the US, and studied lute repertoire and technique in London, England with early music scholars there.

From 1983 to 2003 he was a faculty member of the music schools at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver Community College. He moved to Nelson in 2004 where he is the host of The Art and Times of the Guitar, a look at history, music, and players of the world of the classical guitar on Kootenay Coop Radio. He teaches at the Nelson Academy of Music, and supports the larger arts community as a Board member of the Nelson and District Arts Council, the Amy Ferguson Institute, and as the coordinator of the Northwest Guitar Festival, an annual 3 day special event.
