JAMIE SYER, piano and LAURIE SYER, violin

Jamie and Laurie Syer have been performing as a classical piano and violin duo for twenty-five years in Canada and in Europe, and have recorded frequently for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. They were featured performers at the Cambridge History Festival, Queens' College, Cambridge; "Canada in the European Mind" in Hungary; and at other special events in Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, and France. Their concerts are characterized by a wide variety of music
Jamie Syer is Head of the Keyboard Department at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and Artistic Director of the Collegium Program for Young Musicians there. He is well known across Canada as a performer, teacher, and adjudicator. He received his Doctorate from the Yale University School of Music, and will be making his Victoria Symphony concerto debut in 2010.
Laurie Syer is an active teacher, and performer, and has played with many chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras. She is a founding member of the popular Calgary string quartet: "Allegra". She studied at the University of Calgary and the Hartt School of Music.
